PROJECT TITLE

Cross-sector diabetes training review

DESCRIPTION

This project complements the work of individual PCTs to develop their own workforce skills profiles, as required by the Diabetes NSF. It audits the skills of staff in a range of workplaces and commissions training for diabetes on a sector wide basis.

PRIORITY

The main project within this programme of work falls into 3 consecutive stages:

  • Development of baseline information on the numbers and distribution of diabetes trained healthcare professionals (HCP) in North West London, and analysis of existing and new service delivery models;
  • Skills audit using new diabetes competences with cross-sector sample of staff;
  • Commissioning, delivery and evaluation of in-sector multi-professional training for diabetes.

*There is also a need to identify the primary care workforce development timetable in connection with BECaD project at Central Middlesex Hospital.

  • Over 160 staff registered;
  • Advice and support available in each PCT;
  • MORE GPS, DISTRICT NURSES AND OTHER QUALIFIED STAFF NEEDED TO REGISTER (this process takes 15 mins max).
